WHS Advisor - Contract

Temporary WHS Advisor | 6 Months minimum | Developing Safety Framework | WFH/CBD | Up to $60 per hour + super

Your new company
A public sector agency, with offices in the CBD as well as more regionally. You will be based working from home and able to commute to the CBD flexibly when NSW restrictions allow.

Your new role

  • Scope, plan and deliver a strategic plan and program to implement a work health and safety framework, taking into account the needs of worksites and groups onshore and offshore, to deliver a WHS system that enables the monitoring and reporting of WHS performance metrics and ensures all environments are safe and healthy, responsive to emerging risks, and compliant with NSW government requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with, and provide expert advice to executives, managers and staff to build strong stakeholder relationships and engagement, to ensure WHS principles, frameworks and processes are implemented consistently across the agency, and to contribute to the minimisation and resolution of WHS issues and risks.

  • Lead the establishment and application of WHS oversight and assurance activities, including site and incident investigations, safety audits, registers, and committees, to monitor and report on plan implementation and WHS performance metrics, to ensure safety standards are maintained and safety issues and risks are managed and minimised.

  • Actively engage with staff, deliver training, coaching and mentoring across the agency, to maximise understanding and drive the adoption of the new WHS framework and 'safety first' workplace culture.

What you'll need to succeed

  • At least a Cert IV WHS or other relevant qualification and demonstrated professional experience.

  • Expert knowledge and experience in the interpretation and implementation of WHS Legislation, codes of practice and other regulations and the development of supporting strategies, systems, policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated change management experience, and experience working directly with senior stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of systems and frameworks.

  • Demonstrated experience in driving a safety culture from a behavioural and compliance perspective.
