WHS Coordinator

A leading education facility in Northern Sydney, this organisation is a not for profit business and boasts a large and successful educational environment. Due to an increase in project workload there is an immediate vacancy for a professional and switched on WHS Coordinator based in Hornsby. The primary purpose of the role is to support the director of personnel services with the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the WHS and Risk Management practices and procedures throughout the organisation. You will also assist and support the Director of Personnel Services to develop and maintain a culture that is committed to ensuring the facility is a health and safety place to work and visit.

Day to day duties;

Prepare and implement WHS procedures in line with current WHS Policies.
Compile and maintain central risk registers for WHS
Assist managers across facilities, maintenance, food and more to develop, implement, monitor and review their individual WHS procedures and other relevant documentation as identified or required to ensure compliance.
Provide guidance and support on issues that arise concerning procedure implementation
Oversee the development and implementation of the WHS Audit/Inspection Program.
Implement and review checklists in relation to the WHS/Audit Program and conduct workplace inspections and audits on a regular basis.
Conduct investigations arising and reported incidents, injuries and near misses.
Oversee the incident reporting software program and prepare reports as required.
Oversee the chemical safety register and audit process across the School in accordance with legislative requirements.
Ensure emergency procedures and evacuations are in adhering to compliance requirements and that staff are educated on emergency plans
Reporting hazards you identify to your manager in a speedy manner

To be considered for this role you will have strong administration skills and have a natural ability to work across a dynamic environment with lots of different units. Excellent presentation skills and highly refined communication skills both verbally and written are a must. You will have a solid understanding of the WHS Act. As you are dealing with staff, students, volunteers, contractors and visitors it is imperative to be able to adapt to a busy and dynamic work place. You will also need an innate sense of understanding and have flexibility. You will need to have a Diploma or Degree in WHS and a Chemical Safety Course ( Or be prepared to obtain the Chemical Safety Cert) There will be chemicals in the laboratories and swimming pools so chemical awareness regarding safety is very important. Advanced computer skills are highly advantageous.
