About the Role
Reporting into the WHS Manager, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the WHS system and for specialist WHS advice to managers and other key stakeholders. This role will give you the chance to constantly improve things and add value when it comes to safety. She will mentor you to provide the following support to the business:
  • Maintaining the Work Health and Safety Management System and ensure compliance with relevant standards, operational and business requirements to support strategic objectives, continuous improvement, legislation, codes and best practice principles
  • Providing assistance as required in driving organisational wide WHS initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Implement the immediate safety strategy in partnership with stakeholders and lay the foundations to allow a positive safety culture, including the development of training, education and skills in WHS and RTW
  • Undertake broad stakeholder consultation, be a lead contributor to committees and coordinate WHS reporting accountabilities in accordance with the role and the organisation's requirements
  • Undertake a program of site visits, coordinate inspections and develop internal audits to ensure compliance with the health and safety system and relevant legislation.

About Success
To be successful you must also demonstrate:
  • 1-2 years experience in Work Health and Safety
  • Relevant qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (Minimum Diploma level or equivalent)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with managers, executive and staff to achieve business outcomes
  • Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and Workers Compensation legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards
  • Ability and willingness to travel to sites across NSW (with 3 sites in ACT)
  • Willingness to work within the philosophy and ethos of the organisation
