About Them

A leading, complex service based organisation requires an experienced WH&S Advisor for a short term contract with the opportunity to go permanent.

About the Role
  • Work in alignment with the health and safety team and client group to achieve consistency of WHS strategies, service delivery arrangements and performance outcomes.
  • Monitor, guide and inform your client group on WHS management Policies and Procedures 
  • Support line managers and health & safety staff to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support as needed.
  • Provide effective and timely WHS advisory services.
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of WHS training and presentation that align with WHS strategies for improving WHS performance.
  • Undertake auditing and inspections of relevant WHS systems ascertaining compliance with Legislation and approved Policy/Procedure, and establish risk profiles and implement improved WHS strategies.
  • Lead the analysis of incident and injury data to establish risk profiles.
  • Provide comprehensive advice and reports for WHS outlining trending, risk analysis and reporting on lead and lag indicators.
  • Support Managers in incident, near miss and hazard reporting and investigation and lead comprehensive investigation as require.
  • Support local networks of appointed Health and Safety Representatives, Injury Management team members, and Safety Coaches, in order to maintain communication and consultation processes.
  • Actively participate in the development and deployment of WHS initiatives.
  • Carry out the duties of a WHS Adviser as required.
About You
  • Hospital industry experience is essential
  • Diploma in Health and Safety (minimum requirement)
  • Qualification/s in Occupational Therapy, Physio, or other Allied Health Profession highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of WH&S legislation and supporting regulations and ISO9001 and skills and experience in its practical application thereof
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience and /or recognised safety auditing qualification.
  • Extensive knowledge, skills and experience in the implementation, maintenance and review of safety management systems (AS/NZS4801:2001, ISO9001) and safety audit
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating training sessions
Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated communication and influencing skills, including the ability to interact and influence leaders and staff at all levels.
  • Experience developing reports and briefings.
  • Demonstrated success in driving a strong culture of safety
