Are you a recent Environmental Sciences/Management graduate looking to kick start your career in Health, Safety and Environment? Do you have a good handle on ISO standards when it comes to Health, Safety and Environment Management systems? 

If so, I have a unique opportunity for you to join a global environmental organisation. 

About the Role
This unique opportunity is with a global environmental organisation that will expose you to safety overseeing the Health, Safety and Environment management systems. Reporting into the Site Manager, you will be responsible for updating and maintaining the WHS system and for specialist WHS advice to managers and other key stakeholders. This role will give you the chance to constantly improve things and add value when it comes to safety.

Your responsibilities but limited to will include:
  • Assist in the implementation of the Integrated Management System and ensure compliance with relevant standards, operational and business requirements to support strategic objectives, continuous improvement, legislation, codes and best practice principles
  • Providing assistance as required in driving organisational wide WHS initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Reporting of environmental incidents and the development of remedial actions in consultation with operational management and staff
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement controls
  • Reporting to and attending Community Advisory Groups, industry committees and other external groups
About Success
The ideal candidate will be a recent OHS or Environmental Sciences/Management graduate or someone with an environmental background in the early stages of their career with the desire to grow into safety. Having a strong understanding of how ISO systems are put together will be critical along with understanding the different risks and frameworks. An ideal candidate will be someone with the right drive, energy, integrity and ability to work with stakeholders.

To be successful you must also demonstrate:
  • Relevant qualifications in OH&S, Science or Engineering (preferred)
  • Highly developed written and communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with managers, executive and staff to achieve business outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, sampling and analysis
  • Experience in environmental program/management plan design and implementation
  • Ability and willingness to travel to sites across sites
